Actress Elina Shammi (Alina Siddiqua) has joined the upcoming movie ‘Bangabandhu’ about Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. She will be seen in the role of BNP chairperson and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia in Bangabandhu’s biopic.
Elina has signed a contract to act in the movie on 15 November 2021.
Elina Shammi confirmed the matter and said, “I signed a contract on Monday afternoon to act in ‘Bangabandhu’ biopic.” I will play the role of Begum Khaleda Zia. It is undoubtedly going to be a historical movie. I am going to be a part of that history too. It’s a blessing for me. I will try to do my best.’
Bangabandhu Biopic
Bollywood producer Shyam Benegal is producing Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s biopic ‘Bangabandhu’ in a joint production of Bangladesh and India. The first part of this historical movie started shooting at Dada Saheb Phalke Studios in Mumbai at the end of January this year and continued till April.
Though the movie was supposed to be released in March 2021, the shooting could not be completed due to the Corona epidemic. Therefore, it is known that the movie may be released on the occasion of Bangabandhu’s birthday in March 2022. Before that, shooting of Bangladesh part of the movie will be completed in a few days.
It is to be mentioned that in the biopic of Bangabandhu, Arifin Shuvo is playing the role of Bangabandhu, Nusrat Faria is playing the role of Sheikh Hasina and Nusrat Imroz Tisha is playing the role of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa. Hundreds of actors are also starring in the movie.
