Indian Filmfare Award Tanni from Bangladesh nominated

Bangladeshi model and actress Ishrat Jahan Tanni has been nominated for the Indian Filmfare Award, one of India’s oldest film awards. According to Filmfare’s website, the Bangladeshi model has been nominated for the Best Female Actress (Comedy) category at the Filmfare OTT Awards-2020 for her performance in the Hindi language web series titled ‘Tharkistan‘.

A total of 10 actresses including Tanni have been nominated in the category. From there, the honorary award will be handed over to one person on December 16 in a grand ceremony by the votes of the readers and viewers and the verdict of the judges.

Tanvi, who is currently in Mumbai, said after receiving the nomination, “I am very surprised to see my name in the nomination.” Because, I am the only one who has been nominated to act in ‘Tharkistan’ series. I hope the people of Bangladesh will help me win by voting.

Tanni said, I came to Mumbai from Bangladesh in 2019. I have worked in advertisements and dramas in the media of Bangladesh for a long time before this. I have also acted in the movie ‘Gahin Baluchar’. Our home in Dhaka is in Uttara and our ancestral home is in Comilla.

Tanni joined the last edition of the “Notun Kuri” (New Bud) competition in 1998. She had joind in the field of folk dance and patriotic songs. After a decade of working as a model in advertising, her dance through social media also went viral at one time. She moved to Mumbai in 2016 as she did not get many job opportunities in the country.

Tanni said, ‘I worked in Bangladeshi TV from 2007 to 2018. But there was no response. So I moved to Mumbai. Honestly, now I’m on my way to fulfilling my dream. I feel very good. ‘
